Terms of Use
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms explain what you can expect from Divorce Setu and what we expect from you when you use our website and services.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you use the Divorce Setu website and the services offered through it. By using the website or submitting a form, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the website. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
2. What we do
Divorce Setu helps you understand mutual divorce and legal notices in India, and connects you with lawyers who can assist you. We publish general information and offer requests such as a free consultation call, a mutual divorce request and a legal notice request.
3. General information, not legal advice
The guides, checkers and other content on this website are general information about Indian law. They are not legal advice and may not fit your situation. Laws, court practice and timelines vary and change. Please speak to a lawyer about your case before you act.
Our eligibility check is a simple screening tool. Its result is not a legal opinion or a guarantee that a court will grant a divorce.
4. No lawyer-client relationship from the website
Using the website, submitting a form or receiving a call does not by itself create a lawyer-client relationship. That relationship begins only when a lawyer agrees to act for you and the terms of the engagement, including fees, are confirmed with you.
5. Free consultation
The free consultation is a short call of about 3 minutes with a lawyer to help you understand your options. It is free and carries no obligation to hire anyone. It is not a full legal consultation, and we may not be able to call at the exact time you choose.
6. Fees and payments
Fees for services, such as a legal notice, are shown to you before you go ahead. Court fees, stamp paper and similar third-party costs are separate unless we tell you otherwise. Refund terms, if any, will be confirmed with you when you engage a service.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give information that is accurate and complete, and keep it up to date.
- Share details about another person, such as your spouse, only if you are entitled to and only for genuine legal purposes.
- Do not use the website for anything unlawful, to harass or threaten anyone, or to send false or misleading information.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, copy or gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems.
8. Legal notices
A legal notice is prepared and sent by a lawyer on the basis of what you tell us. You are responsible for the accuracy of the facts you provide. You will see the draft and approve it before it is sent. We may decline to prepare a notice that appears false, abusive or unlawful.
9. Communications
By submitting a form, you agree that we and the lawyers handling your request may contact you by call, WhatsApp, SMS and email about it. You may ask us to stop at any time.
10. Intellectual property
The content, design and branding of this website belong to Divorce Setu or its licensors. You may read and share pages for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not copy, republish or sell the content without our written permission.
11. No guarantees, and limits on liability
We work to keep the information accurate and the website available, but we provide it "as is" and do not promise that it is error-free or always available. We cannot guarantee any legal outcome, and court timelines are outside our control.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the website or reliance on its general information. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Third-party services
The website may link to or rely on third-party services, such as WhatsApp. Their use is subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with the date above, is the one that applies. Continuing to use the website after a change means you accept it.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
