Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Your case is personal. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect when you use Divorce Setu, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Divorce Setu ("we", "us") runs this website to help people in India understand mutual divorce and legal notices and to connect them with lawyers. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website, why, and what we do with it.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us, plus a little technical information.
- Contact details: your name, mobile number, email address and city, when you fill in any form or ask for a call.
- Case details you share: for a mutual divorce request, details such as where and when you married and your preferences on children, maintenance and assets. For a legal notice request, details about you, your spouse (name, address, phone, email) and the reason for the notice.
- Preferences: for example your preferred time for a call, or your answers to our eligibility check if you choose to send them to us.
- WhatsApp messages: if you tap the WhatsApp button, WhatsApp opens with a pre-filled message and a short reference ID. What you send after that is handled by WhatsApp under its own policy.
- Technical information: to know which page brought you to us, your browser temporarily stores the first page you visited and the site that referred you, for the duration of your visit. We may also receive standard information such as your device, browser and approximate location from our hosting and analytics providers.
3. Information about your spouse or other people
For some requests, especially a legal notice, you give us details about another person. Please share only what is needed and only if you are entitled to. We use these details only to prepare and act on your request.
4. How we use your information
We do not sell your personal information.
- To contact you by call, WhatsApp, SMS or email about your request, including the free consultation you asked for.
- To pass your request to a lawyer who can help, and to prepare documents such as a legal notice.
- To run, secure and improve the website, and to understand which pages and guides are useful.
- To meet legal obligations and to handle complaints or disputes.
5. Who we share it with
Some providers may store data on servers outside India. Where that happens we expect appropriate safeguards.
- Lawyers who handle your request. They are expected to keep your information confidential.
- Service providers who help us run the service, such as website hosting, database, messaging and analytics providers. They may process data only on our behalf.
- Authorities or courts, where the law requires it or to protect legal rights.
6. Consent and calls
When you submit a form, you agree that we may contact you by call and WhatsApp about your request. You can tell us at any time to stop contacting you, and we will do so.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as needed to respond to your request, provide the service and meet legal and accounting requirements. After that we delete or anonymise it. You can also ask us to delete it earlier (see your rights below).
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, such as access controls and encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
Under Indian data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or update it.
- Ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent to us using it.
- Raise a complaint or grievance with us about how your information is handled.
10. Children
This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Links to other sites
Our website may link to other sites, such as WhatsApp. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version. If we make significant changes, we will make that clear on the website.
13. Contact and grievances
For any request or complaint about your personal information, please contact us. You can reach us on +91 87963 23876. We will respond within a reasonable time.
